Bob Evans Restaurant (Bowling Green)

One of my friends who served with me on the Public Relations Society of America’s national board of directors was the PR director of Bob Evans Farms, so the name of the establishment has always stuck with me, even though I’d never had their food before.

That changed during my recent trip to Kentucky. I finally got to eat at a Bob Evans Restaurant, one of 570 locations in 23 middle-of-America states.
Really, I didn’t know what I wanted to eat. Well, breakfast, of course, because no matter the time of day, it’s my favorite meal. I ordered the roast beef hash. As I waited, I was thinking of Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, because, as we all know, the Whos down in Whoville always carved up the roast beast for Christmas dinner. And roast beef sounds like … ahhh, never mind.

Report: The roast beef hash was excellent, with some hidden cheesy bits inside. The over-easy eggs were excellent, done just the way I like them, with a bonus – chopped scallions (green onions) sprinkled on top.
Biscuits are usually very good in the South, and Bob Evans’ were no different. They were light and fluffy and oh, so delicious!
My only complaint is that they served me some very weak coffee, not very flavorful and without the dark caffeine kick that I require to keep my motor running. But I told the waitress that and she promised to do something about it (tell management, I suppose).
We’ll see if they took my advice the next time I drop by … lordy, who knows when?
Bob Evans Restaurant: 145 Three Springs Rd. (270) 781-3799.
